The TV Casting Scoop

With so many new and returning shows coming this fall, there have been a lot of new characters being added. Here are some of the big casting scoops:

First A Musical, Now A Dance Number? “Fame”‘s Debbie Allen will guest star on “Grey’s Anatomy” as Jackson’s mother, and will direct her 4th episode of the series as well.

New Horizons: Andre Braugher (“Men of A Certain Age”) is coming to “Law & Order: SVU” and may get involved with Det. Benson.

“Castle” Fans May Hope For A Murder: “The Killing” star Kristin Lehman will appear on “Castle” as a love interest for the titular character.

Smooth Operator: Jay Mohr is joining “Prime Suspect” in a recurring role as a skeevy assistant district attorney.

Reunited and It Feels So Good: “Hawaii Five-0” will reunite Masi Oka with his former “Heroes” co-star Greg Grunberg.

Reunited and It Feels So Awkward: “Chuck” guest star and “Old Spice” spokesperson Isaiah Mustafa will recur on “Charlie’s Angels” as the ex-fiancee of one of the Angels.

Boy Meets Skeleton? “Boy Meets World”‘s Ben Savage will guest star on “Bones.”

See which “Lost” alum has been cast on “Chuck” to play brother to “Smallville”‘s Green Arrow (Justin Hartley). [TVGuide]

“The Vampire Diaries” has cast Claire Holt for the role of Becky, Stefan’s ex and an antagonist for Caroline. [Zap2It]

“Greek”‘s Evan Chambers (Jake McDorman) has been promoted to a series regular as a bartender on NBC’s midseason comedy “Are You There Vodka? It’s Me Chelsea.” [Deadline]

Nick Zano (“What I Like About You”, “Cougar Town”) will recur on CBS’s new comedy series “2 Broke Girls”  as a love interest for Max (Kat Dennings). [Deadline]

Scott Wolf scores a potentially recurring role as an FBI agent on “NCIS.” [TVLine]

Believe it or not, but “Game of Thrones” isn’t done expanding its cast. Good news for fans of the UK series “Skins,” as the show has cast Hannah Murray, who played Cassie on the shows first 2 series. [The Hollywood Reporter]

“Chuck” casts Carrie Ann Moss (“The Matrix”) in multi-episode arc as a love interest for Casey. [Inside TV]

Billy Baldwin (“Gossip Girl”) lands recurring role on “Hawaii Five-0” as a former dirty cop who is now an outright criminal. [TVGuide]

See the recently cast Ted Danson for the first time on “CSI” after taking over for Lawrence Fishburne. [AOL TV]

Vinnie Jones (“X-Men: The Last Stand,” “The Cape”) has been cast in another role as a man with special powers in FX‘s superhero cop drama “Powers,” this time as a character with telekinesis. [Deadline]

“CSI: Miami” is bringing back Alana De La Garza (“Law & Order”) for its season premiere, which is odd considering her character is dead… [TVLine]

Tom Skerritt (“Picket Fences”) and Bailey Chase (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Saving Grace”) will guest star on this season of “White Collar.” Skerritt will play Elizabeth’s (Tiffani Thiessen) father, while Chase will be a suspect in a case. [TVGuide]
